“Margherita” Di Francesco’s Pizza Made Traditionally


No need to worry. The price of traditional pizza “margherita” on Di Francesco won't be going up in the near future. Johnny Di Francesco or Di Francesco is the famous Australian chef. He is owner of the 400 Gradi restaurants in Brunswick, a Melbourne suburb.

What is his secret so that he becomes great chef right now? To be a famous chef, Di Francesco has been learning on making pizza since he was 12 years old. It is really very young age. At his very young age, he studied of making pizza at the highly regarded Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana in Naples, Italy.

Associazione Verace Pizza napoletana (AVPN) is a non-profit organization and was founded in June 1984 in Naples with its legal and operational headquarters. Its mission is to promote and protect in Italy and worldwide the “true Neapolitan pizza“and in the professionalization of pizza makers. Since the beginning, Di Francesco describes himself as a traditionalist when it comes to making pizza and uses a technique preserved in Naples for hundreds of years.

After the competition, Di Francesco explained that it’s an honor to be part of Verace Pizza Napoletana. What he learns includes a great technique like striving to preserve a traditional way of making pizza which the way they've done in Naples for hundreds of years. After winning the pizza competition in Parma, Italy, Di Francesco has no plans to rise up the price of his margherita pizza. He will keep his famous margherita pizza at the same price.

Mr Di Francesco’s margherita pizza, which he makes day in, day out at his Brunswick eatery 400 Gradi, was judged the best in the world. Di Francesco beat more than 600 competitors from 35 countries to take home the title of Specialita Traditionale Garantita.
