Port Jackson, containing Sydney Harbor, is the natural harbor of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The harbor is an inlet of the Tasman Sea (part of the South Pacific Ocean) 12 miles (19 km) long with a total area of 21 square miles (55 square km).It is widely considered to be one of the world's finest harbors. It is also known for its beauty, and in particular, as the location of the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbor Bridge which connects central Sydney with the Northern Suburbs region extended metropolitan area.

Port Jackson is now surrounded by Sydney and its suburbs. It is known as Port Jackson because it was sighted in 1770 by Capt. James Cook, who named it in honor of Sir George Jackson, an Admiralty secretary. Port Jackson is not only principal harbor of New South Wales, Australia, but it also offers many attractions place for every visitor. Many recreational events are based on or around the harbor itself particularly the Sydney New Year's Eve celebrations and the starting point of the Sydney to Hobart yacht race. The harbor is the focal point for Sydney's New Year's Eve celebrations.
