Keukenhof also known as the Garden of Europe is the world's second largest flower garden following Dubai Miracle Garden. It is situated in Lisse, the Netherlands. Lisse is a town in the Dutch Bulb Region of South Holland. Keukenhof is a park where more than 7 million flower bulbs are planted every year. The gardens and four pavilions show a fantastic collection of: tulips, hyacinths, daffodils, orchids, roses, carnations, irises, lilies and many other flowers. Everyone will be overwhelmed by a spectacle of colors and perfumes.
The garden is accessible by bus from the train stations of Haarlem, Leiden and Schiphol. It is located in an area called the "Dune and Bulb Region" According to the official website for the Keukenhof Park, approximately 7 million flower bulbs are planted annually in the park, which covers an area of 32 hectares (79 acres).
Netherlands commonly known as “Holland” is the home of beautiful tulips, and has been the largest exporter of flowers for many years. Tulips from Holland are world famous. Keukenhof includes many gardens and four grand pavilions that show the most magnificent flowers you can imagine. Every year, Keukenhof creates a complete new look according to a central theme.
The best time to view the tulips is around mid-April; depending on the weather. Most visitors come here in Spring, to admire the blooming flower fields in amusement park the Keukenhof. To avoid the crowds then the best advice is to go early when the park opens or the hours before the park closes. Keukenhof is one of the main tourist attractions in the Netherlands with over 800.000 visitors during the 2 months it's open every year.
There are also attractive events at the Keukenhof. One of them is the musical entertainment and beautifully decorated floats at the Flower Parade are one of the highlights of the Keukenhof events calendar, but there's plenty more in store.
