The Eternal city of Rome

Rome is one the most beautiful cities in the world; every year millions of tourists come from around the world to admire the treasures and masterpieces of Roman art and architecture. But the trip can be confusing for first-time visitors. 

RomeBecause Rome is such a huge tourist optionanl place to visit, you should choose the date for your trip carefully. The best times of the year to visit are April, May, and late September through October. In summer, the heat and the crowds make the city is too painful and unpleasent. August should be avoided because this is the month that the entire country of Italy seems to go on vacation. Traveling to Rome sholud be in the correct time, travelling too late or too early in the year can also be risky because the opening hours for many attractions are shorter, and some are completely closed.

The air typically drop quite a bit it begins in the early autumn, making this the optimal time to visit. The days are still warm and the nights are slightly cool. The tour groups and student mobs have mostly disappeared. If you have plan to stay as long as a week, you won't run out of things to do and you'll still feel like you're leaving too soon. Allow at least four days to see all of Rome's major attractions if you have time limited. If you try to look around the entire city into a two-day and do nothing but go fast from place to place furiously taking pictures, you'll only be cheating yourself. After all, Rome wasn't built in a day and it can't be seen in one, either.

The Fiumicino airport is 19 miles outside of the city. A train station is located inside and you can travel straight to Station Termini near the center of town, but you'll then need to find a way to get to your hotel. If you're carrying a lot of luggage or just want to make things easier on yourself, take a cab or have your hotel arrange to have a hired car pick you up. To plunge fully into the essence of Rome, you should staying in a hotel where you can simply walk out your door and into the heart of the city. The closer to the attractions you are the more you'll pay, but it's worth it. Before you make a reservation, look at a map of Rome and confine yourself to hotels that are east of the Tiber River and west of Station Termini.

If you are hungry while in Rome; the city is literally overrun with good places to eat. The busy area just south of the Spanish Steps is full of them, and the maze of intersecting side streets tucked between Via del Corso and Piazza Navona contains dozens as well.
